An oddity brought to my attention was the story by the New York Times suggesting that blogging can kill you. As a blogger so casual that I've forgotten all about it for almost a year, I'm not exactly the workaholic pseudo-journalist they're talking about. But I do find it hard to imagine how making a living by sitting behind a computer typing - much like most white collar work in the developed world - is creating so much stress that hearts are exploding. Especially since the time saved from not having to commute to a job (or even get dressed, really) could easily accomodate a serious workout and some healthy home cooking.
I wouldn't be surprised if the unfortunates mentioned in the article also suffered from obesity, hypertension, high serum cholesterol and all the other afflictions associated with bad diet and lack of exercise. Of course, there are only so many ways to tell people to quit eating like dummies and do some exercise, so the New York Times wrote something a bit more sensational. Then again, that's also why I haven't posted on this blog in a long time - I got bored with writing about it, too. So I can't be too self-righteous about it myself. ;)
